Another warm day to play outside. Yesterday was 80 degrees (27 Celsius).
A half inch (1cm) of snow fell overnight. It made for an interesting
contrast a day before Easter. See more
photos.
Ainsley proudly shows her badge of honor. She
fell off our backyard swing set and came in crying with a bloody
nose ten days ago. She said her hand hurt, but was able to
move it. She colored pictures for several days. A week
later, her gymnastics coach said she didn't want to put any weight
on her arm. A doctor confirmed it was broken for the past ten
days. We feel guilty, but she didn't complain about it. Notice
that she's blowing bubbles in the pictures above with her broken
wrist. Strange.
Our new puppy, Shadow, is an eight week old Peekapoo.

From a photography standpoint, I had to adjust the exposure compensation
and/or adjust the levels in Photoshop Elements to show the contrast
of black on black.
The hot cocoa hit the spot at Ryan's first game of
the spring season. The final hours of a Nor'easter kept
it cold and windy. Ryan and his team did well and won 10-4.
You can't tell from these photos, but there was a noticeable
improvement with all of the boys' abilities to throw, catch and hit
the ball compared to last season. Of course, this team is in
a more advanced division.
Here are some photos during practice and the game. Ryan
hit a single, which takes considerably more effort this year compared
to last year. The players' improved throwing and catching
makes for quick outs. They are undefeated at 3-0.
The kids wore out Shadow several times throughout the
day as shown by her lying down in the photos above. Ainsley
in particular has really enjoyed having Shadow. She plays with
her, takes her outside for walks in the yard, and even cleans up
an occasional accident on the carpet.
Ryan can't stop laughing while playing with Shadow. Watch
the video of Ryan
running up the slide to safety (1:09, 5.1MB) or the one of Shadow
chasing Ryan around the swing set (1:08, 5.1MB). Ryan
is holding the video camera and hasn't learned the finer points
of taking video like aiming the camera at Shadow.
Shadow can't go down stairs yet without scraping her tummy.
Shadow is licking Jeff's ear while he's trying to take pictures.
Dave and Maria stopped by with Baci, Shadow's brother. Watch
the video of the two playing (0:27, 2.1MB).
I regret not checking the quality of the first few photos. In
the shade on a cloudy day made the shutter speed too slow for
the quick playing puppies and all of the photos come out blurry. Most
photos were about ISO 200, 1/60, f/4.
