The wind blows the snow off the trees at 9:00pm.
School was cancelled, the snow started at 11:00am, Jeff's office
closed at 1:00pm, at the snow started to fall an inch an hours around
dinner time. |
|
The screens on the back deck were caked in snow except
for an occasional gap to see outside. |
|
The snow drifts against the bedroom window. Luckily,
the other 20 inches of snow didn't add to the drift. |

February 6, Saturday

Betsi takes a break from shoveling. The snow
is heavy and you have to carry each shovelful to the edge of the
driveway. It's too heavy to fling over your shoulder. |
|
Ainsley climbs the 5 foot snow pile. It later
became a hill for a few sledding runs. |
|
Ryan returns from a sleep over around 10:00am. |
|
There is a VW Beatle under that mound of snow at 3:30pm. We
received between 26-27 inches (66-68cm). |

The icicle of death before Jeff cleared some snow off

STOP the snow! |

Something different. |
February 10, Wednesday
After receiving 26-27 inches on Friday and Saturday, we are supposed
to get 8-15 inches more today. We are on the cusp of breaking a
110 year old record for the most snowfall in one winter. This is
the fifth day the kids have missed this month because of snow and will
likely miss the remainder of the week. They no longer have President's
Day off and their last day of school will be extended two days if they
miss the rest of the week.
|
The snow cave sleeps 9. |
We received at least 8 inches, but the high winds and drifting made
it hard to get an accurate reading. The all time snowfall record
was broken though.
February 13, Saturday
Betsi and Jeff fly to Kauai for their 15th wedding anniversary and to
celebrate Brian's big 4-0. After weeks of snow, some sand and surf
will be welcome It takes as little over 5 hours to get to LAX and
another 6 hours to Kauai.

February 25, Thursday, around 7:30pm
Ryan saw the high winds split our neighbor's Bradford Pear tree in half
and land in our front yard. The rest of us heard a loud boom, but
didn't know what it was. I guess some of our neighbor's wont be
going to the office tomorrow since the tree crosses the common pipestem
for two houses. We can get out though. :-(
