We took a 10 day vacation to France
in late March and early April. Betsi's Dad and Step Mom rented
a Chateau for a week located an hour north of Paris and invited family
members to join them. We spent the first few days in Paris and
took day trips from the Chateau in Beauvais.
The map shows the places we visited during the 10 days. We would
have liked to visit a few other places, but Jeff and Ainsley were
sick enough to visit a French doctor on our fifth day. Our Rick
Steve's French/English dictionary included many common phrases
and paid for itself several times over by allowing us to effectively
communicate our symptoms. While everything was more expensive
in France due to the high cost of living and weak dollar as compared
to the Euro, the real bargain was prescription medication. Prescriptions
were about $3 each, which is less than our co-pay in America.
We found most people helpful, polite, and typically speak more English
than we did French. Betsi started recalling words and phrases
from a high school French class. We learned more in a week
talking to others than we ever would have by reading a book.
